Narrator

In this activity you will become familiar with early reading inventory assessment data. For the purposes of this academy, the Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI) is used as an example of an early reading inventory. The handout titled “Planning Group Instruction Worksheet” is a generic form that can be used with any early reading instrument to help you compile assessment data. This form does not replace the TPRI Class Summary Form. This worksheet can be used to compile information from informal progress checks, reading program assessments, reading inventory summary sheets, and anecdotal records to help you group children and target instruction to meet children’s needs. You can include specific knowledge and skills observed during progress monitoring. Follow the instructions on your screen to familiarize yourself with the Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI) and the materials needed for the following discussion on using assessment data.
