The original Chunking activity required students to practice with two- to five-word sentence segments. In the adapted version, the teacher decided to change the instructional content to only two-word sentence segments. This adaptation is categorized as Instructional Content, because the instructional content is now more manageable and easier to read, enabling students with reading difficulties to build reading fluency. Note that the adapted Chunking activity, which contains only one adaptation (shorter sentence segments), is found at the less intensive end of the continuum. It is less pervasive because it involves only one adaptation category.
