TEKS objectives 1.9 and 2.6 state, "The student will read passages with improved rate and accuracy." There are several ways to teach this reading fluency objective. Partner Reading can be used with many students without adaptations; therefore, it is located outside the continuum. For some students, Partner Reading needs to be adapted. A change in Delivery of Instruction is provided as an adaptation for Partner Reading. This moves the adapted activity into the continuum. The Mini-Passages activity is presented for students with more serious reading difficulties who may be unable to benefit from the adapted Partner Reading activity. This activity, located much further along the continuum, involves several adaptations, including Instructional Content, Instructional Activity, Material/AT, and Delivery of Instruction.
