Let's discuss the procedures for pairing students. When pairing students, rank all students in the class according to reading ability. Next, divide the list in half and pair the top-ranked student in the higher performing half with the top-ranked student in the lower performing half. Then pair the next two students from each half. Continue this process until all students are paired, with partner one, the higher-performing student, helping partner two, the lower-performing student.
