  • The Handout: Reading Progress Monitoring Graph is available for your students to chart results when using the previous lesson and various reading passages in your classroom.
  • Periodically, conduct a one-minute reading using a passage that corresponds with the student's annual goal.Then calculate reading fluency. Graph the reading fluency score on the Handout: Reading Progress Monitoring Graph to ensure that sufficient progress is being made toward the student's annual goal.

After the lesson, have the students count the number of words read in one minute and graph that number using the Handout: Reading Progress Monitoring Graph. Periodically, conduct a one-minute reading using a passage that corresponds with the student's individual annual goal. Then, graph reading fluency on the Handout: Reading Progress Monitoring Graph to ensure that sufficient progress is being made toward the student's annual goal. For example, "The student will read a fourth-grade-level passage with appropriate rate and accuracy."
